- “…a year later I decided to go early to the seminar room where we held class on campus. I had some reading to catch up on, and so I arrived about an hour before starting time. I was only five minutes into my reading when the door opened and four of my fellow students (at Florida St) entered. “Hi Bob. What are you doing here so early?” they asked. I explained that I had come to do some reading, and they nodded. In a few minutes on young man, a Roman Catholic, said, “Bob, I know you need to get your work done, but could I ask you a favor? Would you be willing to take a few minutes and sketch out on the blackboard for us how the Mormons understand the purpose of life? I mean, what’s life all about? What happens when we die? Stuff like that.” It was one of many times that I have felt the quiet whisperings of the Spirit to the effect that this scene was no accident, that he who knows all things had orchestrated the day and the time and had stirred the interest.
